Menopause can be a difficult time in a woman's life. Uncomfortable symptoms include hot flashes, sleeplessness, night sweats, fatigue, and irritability.

There are some easy ways to alleviate these problems without taking drastic steps, such as taking HRT. Many women worry about using HRT because some studies have shown that it increases the risk of breast cancer, heart attack, and stroke.

Here are ten tips to help you cope with the menopause without taking HRT:

Face-Mist for Hot Flashes

Spraying face-mist provides fast relief from the heat and discomfort of hot flashes. It is a good idea to carry face-mist in your handbag so that it is easily reached when you go out.

Wear Natural Fibres During Menopause

Don’t wear synthetic fibres, for example, polyester and nylon, especially at night. These fabrics don’t allow the skin to breathe so they will make the hot flashes more uncomfortable.

Tips for Night Sweats

Many women endure night sweats during the menopause. Feeling sweaty and hot during a sleepless night is an awful experience. Sleeping on a towel, using cotton sheets, and having a change of sleep wear handy helps make this problem easier to bear.

Remedies for Insomnia

. There are many old remedies for insomnia such as drinking hot milk and honey. It is worth trying them all to see if one works.

Coffee and Tea during Menopause

Don’t drink coffee or tea at night. The caffeine in coffee will probably either cause insomnia or make the problem worse.

Care Of Your Skin

Wrinkles tend to develop during the menopause because the skin becomes dryer so it is important to take care of your skin. Using lots of moisturizer will help prevent the skin becoming too dry. Facial oils, such as rosehip oil, may also help.

Meditate During Menopause

Many women find the symptoms of menopause extremely stressful. It may be a good idea to attend meditation classes. Many people find that practising meditation helps to relieve stress.

Exercise During Menopause

Learning a gentle form of exercise such as tai chi or yoga also helps many women cope with stress during the menopause.

. Exercise is recommended by doctors when women are experiencing menopause. Many studies, including a Spanish study on 48 menopausal women having severe menopausal symptoms, show that exercise improves the problems associated with the change of life. It also helps protect women from health problems that often occur with age. These are heart attacks and osteoporosis.

Maintain A Healthy Diet During The Change

Maintain a healthy diet by eating lots of fruit, vegetables, chicken and fish and avoiding fatty foods.

Many women will find that these simple steps will make life easier during the menopause. If the symptoms are so severe that it is impossible to overcome them, it is important to see a doctor.
