Menopause if when a woman can't have any more children because she as stopped having monthly periods or menstruation.

It generally happens around mid-40’s or 50’s some woman experience menopause earlier some later. It is best to stay healthy before, during and after menopause to stay healthy after menopause.The way to stay healthy is to eat healthy meals, exercise and have your blood pressure and cholesterol checked at least twice a year.

Generally, women’s diets are low in iron and calcium through menopause. To stay healthy after menopause some lifestyle habits might have to change and develop new ones to live a healthy life.

Healthy Menopausal Tips

  • Maintain a healthy weight as it is important at any age. Aerobic exercises are good for losing weight to stay healthy after menoupause and they include walking, jogging, swimming, biking and dancing
  • Lose weight if you are overweight or obese
  • Balance diet from the major food groups such rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, fiber and you get all the nutrients you need for your diet.
  • Include food with vitamin C such as green leafy vegetables, carrots, tomatoes, squash and citrus fruits
  • Avoid spicy foods and hot beverages to reduce hot flashes
  • Avoid smoked foods such as ham, bacon, bologna, hot dogs, and smoked fish as they are high in salt, which can lead to high blood pressure and is a serious risk for women during menopause.
  • Iron, vitamin D, B5 and E – Foods rich in vitamin D will help maintain strong bones and to limit sugar, fat and alcohol can help you lose weight and maintain weight as well.
  • Read labels to make the right choices for your diet
  • Exercise daily to stay healthy after menopause can benefit your bones and heart and help you lose weight if you are overweight, enhance your moods and give you a sense of well-being. Walking is a good form of exercise
  • Eat foods that are low fat and high in fiber such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains
  • Less fat, sugar, caffeine, alcohol, salt and cigarettes
  • Don’t smoke as smoking can lead to lung cancer, heart disease and stroke
  • Give yourself lubrication, if your vagina is dry, such as vitamin E oil or olive oil
  • Herbal medicine - Be careful about herbs and talk to your doctor first as some may be toxic. Herbs might be beneficial to stay healthy after menopause
  • Cranberry juice for urinary tract infections
  • Passion flower and Valerian or Black Cohosh for irritability and hot flashes
  • Oats and wheato Nuts will help relieve hot flashes
  • Practice safe sex, as most pregnancies are not planned. You can still get pregnant during your first year of menopause, as you have to go through one full year without your period.
  • Reduce stress by exercise and relaxation techniques to stay healthy after menoupause

Most women can live their menopausal years and stay healthy after menopause to live a productive lifestyle by following a diet plan and exercise regularly. Exercising helps the heart, bones, circulation, and muscles and gives you a sense of well being, especially in menopausal women. Pick up a hobby or keep your regular hobbies, such as reading, make jewelry, listen to music and to do your regular exercises will help you to reduce stress and to lose weight. It is advised to make appointments to see your doctor and have blood pressure, and cholesterol checked and see a health professional to have a pap smear and your breasts examined regularly to prevent and manage diseases.
